My Experience at Radha Rani Temple Barsana

I was in Barsana at my friend’s house. his home was 500 meters away from the temple. we went to visit the temple. he suggested me to start Barsana Temple parikrama before visiting the temple. in the way of Parikrama, there are lots of temples like Maan mandir that was on the hill, Mor Kuti, Raja ka Mahal and more. then we reached Temple. we got the darshan of Shri Radha rani and Shri Krishna. that moment was so good for me. there were a lot of crowds in the temple. as the temple is on the top of the hill so I got an opportunity to explore the entire Barsana. we had a photo shoot in the courtyard of the temple. after that, we took prasad and went to the market. lassi was very popular in Barsana. I purchased Peda and Shri Radha Krishan Posters for my home.

The historical site of Barsana is located in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Because it is where the Hindu goddess Radha (Lord Krishna’s spouse) was born, the city is known as the Radha Rani Birthplace. Barsana is also known for the Lathmar Holi, a significant Holi celebration.

Barsana is also known as Vrishabhanupura, which was named after Shri Radha’s father, Vrishabhanu Maharaj. In the town, there are several religious and historical attractions to visit.

Barsana Radha Rani Temple: Everything You Need to Know

Shri Radha Rani is a Hindu shrine in the Mathura district of Barsana. It is also known as Shriji Temple and Shri Laadli Lal Temple. The goddess Radha is honoured in this Shri Radha Rani Barsana. Her birthplace is thought to be Barsana. Shri Laadli Lal (meaning loving daughter and son), another name for Radha Krishna, are the temple’s principal deities.

The Temple is situated on the summit of the Bhanugarh hills. These hills rise to a height of around 820 feet.

A large number of pilgrims and tourists visit the Radha Rani Temple Barsana from all over the world. The two most prominent festivals here are Radhastami and Lathmar Holi. The region is crowded with guests during these celebrations.

History

King Vajranabh (Krishna’s great-grandson) is said to have founded the Radha Rani Temple over 5000 years ago. The icons were uncovered by Narayan Bhatt (a follower of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu) and a temple was established in 1675 AD by Raja Veer Singh after the temple was supposed to be in ruins. Later, Narayan Bhatt, with the assistance of Raja Todarmal, one of Akbar’s administrators, created the current temple edifice.

The Temple is also linked to popular mythology, which is interesting. Krishna’s father Nanda and Radha’s father Vrishbhanu were excellent friends, according to the narrative. Vrishbhanu was in command of Rawal, while Nanda was in charge of Gokula. However, both of them and their people moved to Nandgaon and Barsana after becoming dissatisfied with the atrocities of Mathura’s king Kansa.

Vrishbhanu chose Bhanugarh Hill, which later became Radha’s home, whereas Nanda chose Nandishvar Hill as his permanent house. On the peaks of Nandishvar and Bhanugarh hills in both Barsana and Nandgaon, there are medieval shrines devoted to Radha and Krishna.

The Nandgaon Temple is known as the Nand Bhawan, while the Radha Rani and Shreeji Temple in Barsana are known as the Radha Rani and Shreeji temples.

Architecture

With its arches, pillars, and red sandstone, the Shriji Temple exemplifies the flamboyance of Mughal architecture. This lovely temple was built in a popular architectural style of the period. With magnificent hand carvings, majestic arches, domes, and beautiful murals on its inner walls and ceilings, the temple has the appearance of a vast palace. The temple’s stones are a mix of red and white stones. Radha and Krishna’s love is symbolized by them.

The main Temple is accessible 200 steps from the ground. At the foot of the steps leading to this Temple, Vrishabhanu Maharaj’s palace has idols of Vrishabhanu Maharaj, Kirtida, Sridama (Radha’s younger brother), and Shri Radhika. Also nearby is the Brahma temple. The Ashta Sakhi temple, where Radha and her major Sakhis are worshipped, is also close by (friends). The Temple is located on a hilltop with a panoramic view of Barsana.

Radha Rani Temple Location and Importance

The Shri Radha Rani Temple is located in Barsana, Uttar Pradesh, on Radha Bagh Marg (India). For Krishna believers, it is a sacred spot.

A devotee is transported from this world to the divine dwelling by the dedication shown during the festivities. In July/August, thousands of devotees from all across the country come to Vrindavan to celebrate Radha Rani’s birthday.

The well-known Lathmar Holi of Barsana, which takes place in February/March, is a wonderful representation of Sri Radha Rani’s and her friends’ special bond of love and mischief with Sri Krishna. On this day, people chant Braj Holi songs and women beat up guys with sticks or lathis in an uncommon yet tasty way to celebrate the Holi Festival.

Time to Visit

The best time to visit Shriji Temple varies depending on the weather. Visiting Barsana in the summer is a good idea. However, keep in mind that it may become rather heated. As a result, it appears that the best season to visit Barsana is during the winter. And if you want to attend the Radhashtami or Holi festivities, visit Barsana in September or March, respectively.

Festivals at Radha Rani Temple

The Radha Rani main festivals are Radhashtami and Krishna Janmashtami, which commemorate Radha and Krishna’s birthdays. Each of these days, the temple is decorated with flowers, balloons, and lights. The gods are decked out in new outfits and jewellery sets. Radha Krishna is offered 56 different dishes, also known as “Chappan Bhog,” after performing “Aarti,” which is subsequently distributed to the devotees as “Prasada.”

Lathmar Holi, in addition to Radhastami and Janmashtami, is a significant temple festival. Lathmar Holi draws thousands of devotees and visitors to the sanctuary. Holi in Barsana starts a week before the festival’s formal start date and continues till Rang Panchami.
