Machkund, a historic pilgrimage site in Dholpur, Rajasthan, which I recently visited. I had never heard of Machkund until one of my family members described about this place and recommended me to go there at least once. and told Machkund is gorgeous, quiet, and a hidden treasure of a location to visit in Dholpur. I personally loved the huge collections of Sri Krishna Temple which was gathered by a quiet lake.
Machkund is widely regarded as the nephew of all holy sites in India. It is commonly known as Teerthraj Machkund. Teerthraj is the prince of all tourist spots. A large and calm kund/pond/lake is encircled by a collection of temples dating from various periods. During my visit to Machkund in Dholpur, I discovered that it is an amazing spot that commands a good view.
Basically, Machkund is a historical and holy site with excellent architectural design and a tranquil lake encircled by ancient temples. It is without a doubt a must-see attraction in Dholpur, Rajasthan.
I visited Machkund Dholpur and I loved this place. If you want to travel with your family this is the best place to travel. Most of the time people forget to visit this place in the rush to visit Gwalior. Me and my few friends stopped at this place for tea. We all were surprised to see such an amazing place which was pretty and very quiet.
I suggest you avoid this place during noon as it’s very hot out there.

What Is The History Behind Machkund Dholpur?
The location is thought to be renamed after Raja Machchh. Raja Machchh is the 24th ruler of the Suryavanshi Dynasty, which ruled nineteen generations before Lord Ram. The origins of Teerthraj Machkund in Dholpur have a unique backstory. According to mythology, long ago, while hunting Lord Krishna, the demon known as Kaal Yamaan accidentally woke up Raja Machchh, who was resting at this location. Raja Machchh burned the demon Kaal Yamaan here for troubling his sleeping. The prince has the power to destroy anyone because of a heavenly gift from the Lord.
Teerthraj Machkund is an old holy site that is thought to have been built thousands of years ago. It is bordered by tiny to medium-sized temples built between BC 775 and BC 915. These temples were built by several rulers that ruled over this region at the time. This lake is held holy by Hinduism, and it is widely believed that anyone who bathes in its water is blessed.

My Journey To Machkund Dholpur In Rajasthan?
I travelled to Machkund from Gwalior and had a fantastic time. Because of its stories, architecture, and history, I felt the Machkund Dham to be both calm and beautiful. Machkund is a great tourist destination that is neglected. I learned from the villagers that Machkund is also known as “Mini Pushkar” here.
In the evening, I attended a fountain and light show on the pond which was performed with the assistance of boats. The main building of the Machkund Dam appears to be in good condition. Locals can use it as a wonderful picnic location. A must-see in Dholpur, especially at night at sunset, you will have an unforgettable experience. There is also a Gurudwara next to the Machkund Dam.
